Hi all!

If you haven't already checked, we have released our intercooler pipes for the Camaro 2.0T, and they are also a direct fit for your ATS! We have a full write up on the entire development process in a thread on this forum, so feel free to read through it if you like. However, one thing that we keep getting questioned about is whether we will make an intercooler that will fit the ATS. The answer is an enthusiastic yes! The intercooler that we are making for the Camaro 2.0T is also a direct fit for the 2013+ Cadillac ATS.

So far, we have only gone through the stock review and our prototype design, but we have finished testing and we'd like to share that information to you once it is all compiled. In the meantime, take a look at our development on the intercooler that was done on the 2.0T for now. Soon, we will have data for everyone to sift through.

GETTING INTO THE THICK OF IT – INTERCOOLER R&D, PART 1: STOCK REVIEW

GETTING INTO THE THICK OF IT – INTERCOOLER R&D, PART 2: THE CORE CONCEPT

As mentioned, we are in the middle of crunching the data and we'll have some cool updates for how we collected the numbers. The next update will be filled with all sorts of information about how our prototype performed when we did dyno testing. I just want to make everyone aware that we are making an intercooler that will fit your ATS and quickly catch everyone up on our progress thus far, so stay tuned as a full update will be posted directly in this thread. Any questions? Let's discuss!

The current diablo tune on my ATS has been bogging and chopping since it was stock. Trying to figure out the problem and compensate for the few mods I have done to the most out of it. I have a ZZP intake and catless downpipe with a borla axle back exhaust. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone installed the bigger turbo from Vermont, RPM, with the bigger turbines? How did it go and is it a big jump from just a tune? Thanks a lot.

Please do not unnecessarily bump posts, specially those less than 9 hours apart. Sub.

E85 and Diablo Trinity tuner?

I wanna get Vermont tuning E85 convertion that allows any mixture of gas but I have a Diablo tuner already with a tune that I finally like. Would I be able to essentially install the e85 sensor and upload the e85 tune to the already tuned ecu by Diablo? Let me know what you guys think and the best e85 sensor providers. Mods are zzp intake and catless downpipe paired with a borla axle back and the Diablo tune. Thanks!

LTFT - Long Term Fuel Trim +25%

I'm guessing that's not normal. Talking about my bone stock down the paper airfilter 2014 ATS4 2.0t. I know some other people have had a similar issue, did anyone find a resolution? I'm taking it in to the dealer tomorrow. No CEL is illuminated, so I fear they're going to tell me there is no problem. I reset the fuel trims and the LTFT still went right back up to 25%. Should I tell them that I'm getting crappy fuel mileage to force them to actually address the problem?

Thanks in advance!

Mishimoto's Silicone Induction Hose R&D Thread

Hey Cadillacforums,

We've recently confirmed the fitment of our silicone induction hose with the ATS airbox, so I'm pleased to bring you our recent update on the project. For those of you who would like to catch up on the project, or check out the full update, head over to our Engineering Blog.

The quality of the airflow is essential for any vehicle boasting a forced induction system. You would think with a compressor literally sucking volumes of air that it would sort itself out, but that’s not always the case. Turbulence, and the resulting inconsistent airflow, is the enemy. Any sort of change in the airflow can cause pressure differentials and ultimately keep your turbocharged engine from rising to its full potential. As laid out in the stock review of the Ecotec LTG induction hose, between the couplings, bends, and the muffler, the stock hose isn’t exactly the most efficient design. If you recall, GM engineers have certain criteria to meet in their design process and have to consider a broader consumer base, even if that means sacrificing airflow, those pesky turbocharger sounds, and anything visually stimulating under the hood. We here at Mishimoto have a narrower consumer base to cater to. We design products for those of you who want a few extra horses back, who willingly bask in the whiney turbo soundtrack and want their engine bay to match the surly exterior of their muscle car.

First off, I know many of you are eager to replace that eyesore of a stock hose with something that matches the aggressive lines of your ATS, and I'd say we accomplished that.

Our new induction hose is constructed from wire reinforced silicone, which not only holds its shape much better than the stock hose, but it will last much longer as well. We also rid of the multi-section assembly, which creates a more uniform airflow into the turbo, and also greatly improves the engine tone of your LTG.

Now for the moment you've all been waiting for, the gains. While we used our Camaro 2.0T for the dyno testing, the results will be the same for the ATS.

We were able to pick up 5HP and 6 Ft/Lb. of torque using the stock air box, but with a significant increase in performance on the top end. Also, thanks to the increased volume, we were able to increase the flow from the air box to the turbo by 22%.

We are still in the works of finalizing the development, and will most likely begin production in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for a pre-sale in the coming weeks.

CARB legal exhaust?

Hi, not to long ago I got a 2014 2.0T. I love the car but it could be louder. Does any company make a nice sounding exhaust system for it that is CARB legal? And would an exhaust system void the warranty? My Car is a CPO so I still have a lot of time on the warranty and do t want to do anything that might void it.

When will a real supercharger kit be released for the 3.6L ATS?

Seems these projects always get announced and fizzle out, which is pretty disappointing because I myself would very much enjoy some bolt on horsepower for the LFX. Word on the yard is that a company that's posted here on the forums will be doing some market research this month to determine if it is a viable project for them still, hoping they find positive results. The way I see it is a $6k kit that can be bolted on in a days work can get me to ATS-V power for about half the overall cost of an ATS-V. (Based on my estimation that a '13 ATS + supercharger would cost roughly $27k today vs about $50k for a used ATS-V)

3.6L Bolt-Ons

My B2B Warranty only has about 8k miles left on it, at that point I want to add some go-fast bolt-ons.

Here is what I'm looking at doing, anyone else had experience with these parts on their ATS?

- JacFab Ported Intake Manifold
- JacFab Intake Spacer
- Overkill 80MM Throttle Body
- Dynomax Super Turbo Mufflers
- Some sort of Catch Can
- Tune (KPE or Local Tuner with TunerCATS

Any other ideas on some easy go-fast parts?
Does replacing the tube between the intake box an throttle body help at all? I know there is that big resonator/sound eliminator box on there.

Just looking for some ideas.

Racing Pedals

Ok folks. I've searched and searched the forums on this topic and found nothing. On my previous ATS I had stock aluminum pedals installed. On my new 2017 they were not available for whatever reason. I have a manual and like to heel toe but it's very difficult with the stock pedal placement (small feet size 8 on a hot day...LOL!). Has anyone in the forum installed aftermarket pedals if so please share and let us what your experience is and share some pics. Best I've found was on SRP Racing website. check out the pic and let me know what you think. They don't have anything under the ATS so I checked out the Camaro and it seems like the same setup. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think they're the same measurements.

IPF vs. KPE

Hello,

KPE first introduced itself in this forum as the partner and exclusive distributor of IPF tune products. My understanding is that later KPE had some change of management. Today both KPE and IPF sell tunes for our cars and you can directly buy from either of them! They have different price tags, their dyno graphs are different, and the gains are different as well.

Any idea on what the story is? And which path is better to take?

My tabs were coming due, and then I saw this in the classifieds...

2016 ATS-V with Track Package/PDR, Black & Saffron Recaros, CF package + 6sp manual with 5400 miles. Went to kick a tire, and as they say... the rest is history.

Where my local Caddy dealer couldn't make the #s work on a new V (and he tried at least twice IIRC), and I'm not interested in leasing, the local Chevy dealer who picked this car up at auction from Michigan was able to put together a sales price which included a very descent trade-in price on my 2013 ATS 2L 6sp that worked for me!

And I'm luvin' this V.

With that said, all the big plans I had for my 2L are now for naught. I didn't realize that in 2 years of ownership I had gathered quite a # of parts as I planned my automotive conquests with the LTG.

Have a look in the For Sale section for the new parts I have to offer... parts for the Brake system, Intake system, Suspension, and Exhaust. Oh, and 1 appearance item - Black mesh grill, very nice!

2.5l LCV block swap 2.0l LNG? Frankenstein

Has anyone ever looked into if the blocks are interchangeabe between the 2.5l LCVand the 2.0l LNG?

We know the intake manifolds are interchangeable... This is fairly common amongst other makes having interchangeable blocks.

Could be cool for the guys who break pistons. Forge the 2.5l and spool some big turbos. I'm sure the 2.5s could be had for next to nothing.

Anybody have any solutions for upgrading the shocks on a fe2 car yet?

Any of the 16+ camaro parts swap over?

I don't see any shocks available, only coilovers in which BC are junk and the D3 is a little more expensive than I'd like.

Mishimoto's LTG 2.0T Downpipe For The Cadillac ATS

$

It's been a long time coming. We have had a downpipe in the works for quite some time, and we are finally ready to show you guys what we've come up with. For Part 1, go to our engineering blog to read more on how we got this started

The Rise to Power – Downpipe R&D, Part 2: A Working Prototype

Downpipes are a choke point in many turbocharged vehicles when it comes to exhaust flow. As opposed to naturally aspirated cars, less serious thought needs to go into the size of the exhaust piping. In most cases the system just needs to be bigger in diameter, maximizing what you can within the alotted design space.

The downpipe on the Camaro 2.0T’s LTG engine is a restrictive point in the exhaust system, a conclusion brought about by our testing. The point of emphasis is the rate at which exhaust gases are expelled out of the turbocharger. That flow is very important to how well the turbocharger can do its job. If you can flow more exhaust gases, the turbine can spin faster, leading to more boost. It is now time to test the prototype and figure out what our downpipe design can do for this LTG power-plant.

There is a noticeable difference in sound. Even with our catback and intake on the car, you can hear a much throatier and raspier exhaust sound. This can be considered as an indication of how restrictive the stock downpipe is. The stock downpipe has an inner diameter of three inches at the turbo, but necks down to 2.25 inches. Our downpipe is 3 inches all the way through, opening up the flow and eliminating the restriction from the turbocharger’s exhaust gases.

Consistent performance gains were extracted from this downpipe with max gains averaging 7hp and 10 ft-lbs of torque, making it a performance modification that you can feel when you get on the throttle.

Although the air-fuel ratio results make this downpipe perfectly safe to run on your stock LTG setup, it is important to talk about the catalytic converter. While this downpipe includes a catalytic converter, it is a smaller, high-flow version, so restriction is minimized. However, this comes with caution. Since this is a high flow converter, it will cause a Check Engine light to be appear on your dashboard as it did on our Camaro. This is due to the catalytic cell count within the converter being lower than stock. We safely ran the car for quite some time without a tune, but we cannot recommend that you do the same. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that this part be for off-road use only and paired with a tune from a professional tuner.

Fitment

This downpipe is substantially lighter than the stock unit. It surprised me when I held the two together. The stock unit weighs in at 17.2 lbs. That is pretty heavy considering the small overall size of the downpipe. Our downpipe nearly halves that with a weight of 9.6 lbs. So not only are you getting a power increase, but your application will also lose a bit of weight.

The same holds true for the 2013+ Cadillac ATS 2.0T. Each application gets to reap the benefits of both the weight loss and power gains since the downpipe is a direct fit for both. The chassis are similar enough for us to make a pipe that fits both cars, so you guys aren’t left out. While all testing was done on our shop Camaro 2.0T, we have compared the results to the expected performance of this part on a Cadillac ATS 2.0T and have determined that there would be no measurable difference. See below for some installed shots on a loaned ATS.

The brackets are different for both cars, so each kit will come with a bracket of our design. Those of you with the ATS will not need it, but for this to bolt properly on Camaro 2.0T’s, you will.

With the completion of this prototype design and successful dyno testing, it’s time to wrap this project up. We are close to making the presale live. During that time, you will be able to preorder this part at a substantial mark-down from MSRP. Stay tuned for that!

Did the 2017 2.0t get an exhaust upgrade?

$

Dropped my 2014 2.0t at the dealer a few days ago so they could program the second key fob they promised me when I got my car and to take care of a loose belt. They gave me a 2017 2.0t loaner, unsure of trim. The loaner car has noticeably more power then mine on the low end, I know that in 2015 they got a power and torque increase. But what I am liking the most is the sound, exhaust spunds a lot better then mine and better still I can actually hear the turbo when it spools, seriously love this! Did the exhaust get an upgrade for better sound, or is this the result of just what was down with the power increase?
