I am a proud owner of a '14 ATS4 3.6 Performance. I've had it for just about a month now. I am very happy with it's performance but I wish it was just a tad bit louder. The power is there and it has a decent tone but nothing overly impressive. It seems like the 2.0T has more options. Looking to eventually add a CAI, chip, headers, and catback.

ATS Exhaust Questions ??? Simple Dump???
I have been working on a plan for an exhaust dump on a 2013 RWD Manual ATS. Has anyone already done it that I have not been able to find?
My Plan has been to use a 2015 or newer factory muffler with the single inlet and use the other side for the dump. For this to work I need more info. I don't have the room to jack up my car so if anyone has this info it would be great. I need to know the exhaust sizes.
The size of the pipe from Cat to the Y pipe
The size of the pipe after the Y
The size of the muffler inlet pipe on the 2015 (I assume its the same size all the way back.
If anyone has pictures of this area it would be great.
I wonder if there is enough room to use the muffler I have now. I could cut off the factory Y pipe and replace it with two Y pipes. Use the fist one to feed the dump and the second one to feed the two inlets on the stock muffler.
Something I just noticed there is shielding on the 2015 pipe in the same place as the 2013 has the Y. Is there something more in that area?

ATS-V brakes for ATS 2.0t Rwd Performance
Has anyone tried this brake swap?
Zzp lists a custom tophat for the rotor on their 14.4 brake kit... but why?
How different is the ATS-V suspension from the 2.0t RWD Peformance? I figured it would be a direct swap.

3.6 N/A Ats Build and Review
Hi guys
New to forum but I wanted to share my experience with my 2013 ATS Build as I notice not many people look into the V6 and those that do are always looking for reviews on parts. I come from a background of moderately fast cars owning and building a 350whp 300zx then 2 3000GT Vr4s in the 375-410awhp range. I decided I was getting older didnt have time to keep fixing cars and needed a daily with a little kick the ATS V wasnt out yet and I was tired of dealing with turbo issues so passed on the 2.0T. I purchased my ATS in 2015 used with just 18K Miles and then started modding when I hit the 30K Range earlier this year. I will list the upgrades in the order I did them and try and give an honest review of each.
1st thing I did was a Full K&N Intake System. While it gave the car more growl I wasn't really impressed with it for the $340+ Price tag. I wouldn't recommend this unless you are adding a different Throttle Body or Intake Manifold Mods. If your simply want a hair more power or better MPG and dont see yourself going further in depth just stick with a K&N Drop in filter and save some $$$.
2nd Modification was V Maxx Ported Throttle Body for $150 after getting core charge back I feel this was a more reasonable Modification. I felt some better pull in the mid range and Felt it gave some added justice to the K&N Intake. Now I didn't ever feel the so called dead spot around 2-2500rpm like some People mention but if you notice that this should be the fix. Local Camaro owner commented on how smooth my throttle Felt when driving the car.
Next up was the Exhaust I dont have any good local shops here so they took me to the cleaners. With Exhaust I recommend doing research and figuring out everything before they put it on the rack. I paid $350 for labor only to get stock muffler out and Dynomax Super Turbos in this gave me some added growl but I wasnt impressed with the sound. Now this is coming from a guy who used to drive a turbo car with a 4" Catback with no cats resonators or any type of silencer. So I went back and had the secondary Cats removed another $120 added growl and maybe a hair more power above 5K RPMs. The exhaust made the car sound better but I dont think it gained much the stock 3.6 cat back flows very well for a stock car. If you want loud Look into a set of Dynomax Bullets great for V8 Rumble. If you want a tad more growl and power just remove 2ndary cats and run stock muffler.
Finally up was Tuning I started with the Diablo Can Tune I can tell it added some power to the car Cut down my 0-60 by .2-.5 Pending the 91 or 93 tune. I also like the firm shift program car felt more sporty. I made some changes on my own because I didnt want to have as firm shifts from 1-3rd 24/7 in tour mode. With diablo I was able to change pressure and point so in tour its better than stock but not rough and in sport mode I get the hard shifts of a older muscle car.
After a few weeks I wanted to try some custom tuning I reached out to Will at OverKill and got a set of tunes and TCM tune. Wow it was better than the Diablo tune. Ive only run the 93 but he cleaned up the areas I felt diablo was lacking. Dropped the 0-60 by .7 if I can hook and added more power after the 4500RPm Range. Now one thing I will mention is Overkill is very tough to get a hold of. I have had a rough time getting any support for a retune/reviewing files. The TCM tune was a little to rough to daily so I run the Overkill ECM tune and Diablo TCM tune. Will has messaged me back after a few emails but I've yet to receive any retunes. Now his tunes are better than the canned Diablo tunes hands down but keep in mind you will be waiting possibly weeks.
Next up is a Intake Manifold Spacer (Coming from Overkill) its been ordered just awaiting for it to come in. Supposed to add some Midrange power. After that if Will says my logs look good its off to the Dyno in the fall to see what the numbers look like. One thing I forgot to mention is I dont have access to E85 in my area so my car is a 93 Pump gas car. I have heard the 3.6 wakes up more on e85 but can not confirm.
As a package I feel the car is more Fun but not really too Quick. Now that might be because I cant hook as well on the 225 Uniroyals or because as always when you start modding the Bug never goes away. You can easily get used to a 300-400whp car and it not feel fast after driving for a few weeks. I would really like to Line up with a stock 3.6 Camaro or ATS and see the difference. The local guy has a 2011 Camaro but refuses to race me because he says I will beat him. A dyno is opening in the Fall so I can get some numbers and the local track opens up in Sept So I can back those numbers with 1/4 times. Until then I can only go by the ol Butt Dyno.
One mod thats not really for performance but I highly recommend is a catch can. My car has 36K and the oil Build up was already starting on the valves. A good catch can can help with engine longevity if your planning on keeping the car past 50K. Also if you dont mind the looks Pull the beauty cover and Foam behind it this lowers Intake Temps by up to 10-18 degrees pending outside weather.
Looking back if I was to do it over again I would probably go K&N Drop in, remove Secondary cats and Catch Can and maybe Ported T.B. Then put the rest of the money towards Looks. Like a nicer set of Wheels and Roof Spoiler, ATS V trunk Spoiler and body panels. Since I have already brought my car past the point of simple Mods I just keep digging more and more I would like to break the 300whp without E85 and have a quick 3.6 ATS but only time will tell.

Modifying an ATS V muffler to fit ATS 3.6?
I have a 2016 3.6 that currently has the Cadillac accessory performance exhaust system. For the most part I really like the sound, but lately I have had an idea in my mind mainly because I see a used ATS V muffler for sale on eBay. So that had me thinking. Comparing pictures it appears the mufflers dimensions and hangers are identical between the V and regular ATS. So hanging it is no problem.
My pipes have already been cut just under the axle since I have the accessory exhaust system. Mating the two systems in this area should be relatively straight forward for any exhaust shop. Now the somewhat tricky part, the tips. What I like about the V is it has the exhaust valves which might not be all that difficult to wire up to a simple switch in the cabin. So having a controllable dual mode exhaust would be awesome. I loved it with the mild2wild on my Z06. Not only that, but I really like the sound of the ATS V stock system, and the regular 3.6 might have a exhaust note that overall sounds similar to the V. The exhaust tip sections would have to be modified since the V has quad tips. The shop would have to rework the outer most tips to fit the standard ATS single tip opening in the bumper. Based on comparing side by side, the V outer tips look to only be an inch or two too far out. Once those tips are relocated, the shop would remove the inner tips at the muffler and create a merge to join them to the other tip with the valve mechanism in place. So in theory you will have the full functionality and sound of the V muffler, but in a dual outlet setup for the regular ATS.
This could be a great setup if you can get ahold of a stock V muffler for cheap. Unfortunately the one on eBay is listed at $699, then the exhaust shop labor and things would be kind of steep.
Thoughts/opinions on this? Sounds like a lot of screwing around, but really I think the modifications required to the muffler would be pretty easy for any shop.
Some pics of the V muffler and regular 3.6 muffler. Here is the eBay link for the muffler which also have good pics.

400+ HP ATS-4, 3.6 liter??
Hello all,
I'm new to the forum but like many of you I'm interested in the likely hood of getting 400+ HP out of the 3.6 liter in my 2014 ATS-4!! While this is my daily driver I don't want to go to crazy with it but I'm just curious with it already producing 325 HP what it would take to reach 400? Is this 3.6 liter different than the 3.6 liter twin turbo in the ATS-V? If not, would it be possible to add the same twin turbo set up to this one? I know usually turboed engines have a different compression ratio. So I'm thinking the non turbo 3.6 might not be built internally to handle a turbo set up. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Possible '14 Purchase Tomorrow- I want your input!
Hey everyone, new guy here. I just began a new job that will have me putting 15k-20k per year on my car. I live in Maine so AWD would be a nice thing to have for our winters. I've narrowed my search down to two cars, one of which is the attached ATS 2.0T.
I've read through the cracked piston thread and am a bit nervous about picking the ATS up because of it. If asked, would the dealership be able (or willing) to tell me if any of the fixes have been accomplished or if the engine itself has been replaced/repaired? I'd hate to be on the way to a meeting in Connecticut and left dead on the side of the highway.
I guess I'm just a bit nervous being that this would be my first GM car, let alone my first American car (VW guy at heart). Let me know what to look out for, listen for, try to break, etc... Thanks a whole lot!

GMPP Camaro Short Throw Shifter
I was browsing some posts over in the LTG Camaro world and found that there is a short throw shifter available from GM for the Camaro. It sounds like it just released. I've been dying for a short throw for my ATS.
As a self-certified internet mechanic my professional opinion on fitting this to an ATS is a strong "hmmm... maybe".
Im hoping someone may have more insight into if this will fit the ATS. Thoughts?
http://www.thatgmpartsguy.com/perfor...23?parent=1023
Install requires dropping the tranny, if it was easier I'd probably just buy one and try it out. But I really don't want to get that far in and figure out it doesn't fit. I'm also wondering if the Camaro shift knob uses the same fitment as the ATS. Otherwise the shift knob would also be an issue.

Installed 3.6 Performance Exhaust Today
I have to say the look is outstanding...and the sound even better!! There is no highway drone, really sounds very similar to the standard exhaust at speed... but once you get on it, it comes to life! Tuning Spare ECM
So I was wondering what the process is to install a new ECM/ECU/PCM, whatever, the computer. I know when tuning through ZZP they'll send you a new module with their tune on it. But I'm wanting to go this direction without using a ZZP tune.
So really I'm wondering how you marry a new module to your car/VIN. If it does not require a trip to the dealership would this potentially help with my whole tune vs warranty conundrum?

99 Octane mandatory?
Have any of you read your owner's manual all the way through? Yes it's as exciting as a root canal, but I did find some interesting bits in there recently while passing time in stopped traffic.
It states that if you intend to use the car for track or racing events, the 2.0 should be overfilled with an additional quart of oil, you should only run 99 or higher octane, and you should over-inflate the tires. The 3.6 does not require the extra oil nor does it require the high octane fuel.
Most of us that have tuned the 2.0 are already conscious about low octane fuel, but i was surprised to see a requirement of 99 or better (basically racing fuel) right in the darn manual.
