My TRS106 Experience

When I ordered my ATS last November my plan was to get the Pfadt kit with CAI, downpipe and tune.
Before I got around to ordering it they went out of business.

I'm glad this happened (Sorry for their bad fortunes but good for me.). Doing some research, mostly on this board, I found
that there were alternative tuning possibilities out there.

After considering the alternatives I settled on the TRS106 package from TRS Fabrication(Ihuntv8 on the forum). The pictures
of their hardware looked high quality and there were good reviews. It being an Ohio company was also a plus for me. Pricing was
not a prime concern for me but it was also very reasonable.

I contacted Trent via facebook and set up a time to let him have my car. I dropped it off on Monday morning and picked it up that
Thursday afternoon. The package consisted of a catch can, downpipe from the turbo, intake tube from the airbox to the turbo and the pipe
from the intercooler to the intake. There was a tune to take advantage of the new parts. We didn't discuss it in advance but Trent also
replaced the turbo heat shield with one he had fabricated, very handsome, and he also threw in a laser cut cup holder cover plate.

The car is a little louder and you can hear the turbo a little more but you wouldn't really notice it unless it was pointed out. The main thing
that I noticed when picking it up is that it now pulls strongly to 6800 rpm. Before it fell on its' face above 6k. It is now a real torque monster
all across the rev range and acceleration is much better.

This weekend I drove the car over to Mid Ohio to see the vintage races. This was a 90 mile trip on 2 lane roads. The roll on acceleration was
incredible, when I wanted to pass someone I downshifted from 6th to 4th gear and mashed the gas and it shot from 50-55 mph up to 80
in what seemed like no time. Mileage was about 2mpg less than what I would have expected before, but I figure that is due to my frequent
full throttle applications.

I don't have dyno numbers, Trent told me what the torque improvement the computer was showing but I can't remember what it was, maybe I'll ask him again.
What I was looking for was a significant increase in performance and to be able to feel that my car was special and better than stock. I definitely got what I
wanted and am very happy with the results.

Here is a picture of the cup holder cover.
