Ok so my count is now 3!!! the loaner CTS 2.0t I was given to drive while they replaced my motor again has blown. Loaner CTS 2.0t 3,556 miles I didn't even drive this one myself for more than 50 miles. they kept switching the loaner cars out. I started with a CTS coupe bade model. I told them I would like a different car with atleast 1 usb port. they brought me a cts sedan with 2.0t they left that with me for a just over a week. then they brought me a different CTS 2.0t on wensday evening the wife drove it a bit. she complained about it idling and running ruff. I drove it Saturday night to go pickup my son. on the way home is was going about 35mph and went to pass slower traffic and halfway around the slower car the dash lit like xmas. no power at all, smoke billowing out the exhaust, shaking and idling terribly ruff. had to pull over and leave it. call the wife to come pick me up. so this morn I had to take her truck to work as I have already missed time from work dealing with picking up a loaner car as my car was blown up. so today the wife had to take time off work so they could bring her a loaner car. well she just called they just dropped off the latest loaner car. A 2014 CTS 2.0T!!
I know some of you are going to say it has to be you. what could I possibly being doing to these cars to cause this? motor, tune, drivetrain is bone stock not modified in anyway. on my car I only use 93 octane. on the loaner car I sure it has prob only ever had 87 octane in it. my corvette spent 4 years being driven hard taken to race tracks, 100+ mile back road cruises. crank, rods, pistons, bearings etc were stock everything was modified adding almost 200hp. never had any problems at all. corvette made a great daily driver, rock solid reliable unlike these 2.0t motors.
so I see they are installing colder spark plugs and a new tune with less timing. are they actually doing anything with the parts? we heard they had a tsb for different pistons but several have received those and then they failed.
