Another Turbo Question

I was Googling turbo options and stumbled across a thread on the Chevy Sonic forums about bypassing the bypass valve solenoid to keep the ECM from limiting boost. They have a bypass valve that is controlled by the ECM via a vacuum chamber and solenoid. That kind of peaked my interest. I admit I have next to no knowledge of turbos other than an elementary understanding of how they work, but could something like this work on the ATS? I see that there's a electronic module on the turbo connected to three vacuum lines. A little more Google time revealed that it's manufactured by Pierburg, which is now KSPG AG. Their site says

"Likewise for use with turbochargers are Pierburg's electric divert-air valves which in engine cruising mode open the bypass from the pressure to the suction side of the compressor. Together with another Pierburg product, the charge-pressure control valve, they allow swift charger response to the respective drive situation for superior acceleration and reduced noise. Moreover, they cost less than the electropneumatic valve systems built in to date and take up less space."

It sounds like the "charge-pressure control valve" is the wastegate, so would connecting the pressure side line going to the "divert-air valve" straight to the wastegate cut the ECM out of the loop so that it couldn't control boost and it would instead be manually controlled by whatever spring is in the wastegate?
