For those who got remote start installed after they bought their cars.

I purchased my Remote Start kit from GM Parts Direct. With shipping just a touch over 200 dollars.

My local Chevy Dealer (nearest Cadillac dealer is 79 miles away) said they can install it - book time is supposed to be .5 hours TOTAL.

So, they contact GM, GM updates the BCM program, the tech installs the new BCM program to his scan tool. Then he deletes the prior remotes (I only got one when I bought the car used) and installs the two new ones included in the kit. My Service Advisor seems to think they will get it all done in .5 hours.

My kit arrives on Friday. It will be the next Friday (February 6th) before I can get it installed. Will be nice not to have to go out, start the car slipping on the ice.

How long is the warmup time that the computer allows? My wife's 2009 Dodge Ram allows five minutes before the computer shuts down her truck. Plenty of time to warm up the interior and the seats are plenty toasty.

Man, I am getting old. I remember the days when I ripped out the A/C and ran short belts to maximize my horsepower on my old Mustang GT. Now I am getting remote start installed to warm up my car.
