Run flat tires

$

I know i live in the worst city for the quality of the road (montreal canada)

But i just put my run flat tires . When i bought the car it was in winter so i put non run flat michelin tires for the winter. Now i m testing the run flat tires and the comfort is terrible.
One thing i noticed is during a turn, if there is some bumps on the road the car seems to rebound like if i have overinflated balloons. My tire pressure is as recommanded.

SO , am i alone thinking this and does someone switch those tires for something else run flat or non run flat ?

Thank you

My ATS is AWD 3.6, 18 in tires

Dyno Time for my 3.6L ATS

Hello fellow ATS owners, making my first post here on the forums. I've been a proud owner of a 2014 ATS 3.6L Premium
model for 3 months now and I have to say that I am loving this car!

I will be getting her strapped to the dyno tomorrow for some baseline power runs. The dyno being used is a Mustang dyno and it will be performed in Ventura, CA. I hope to post some charts in the next few days for all to see.

I'm estimating that it will put down about 260-275ish HP, but we will see. Has anyone out their had their 3.6L dyno'ed?

Tire Size Fittment Qn - 3.6L AWD

I would like to know if it is possible to fit 245/40/18 tires on an AWD with stock struts and stock wheels with out rubbing?

I've used online fitment guides such as discounttire.com and it shows that 245's wouldn't fit on this car. However, the tire tech at discount tire looked at his fitment guide and said they would fit. And by just feeling the gap between the strut and the 225 tires on the car, it implies there is no way a 245 would fit in the front. So are any of you with AWD running on 245/40/18 tires?

Thanks!

Interested in purchasing, what would you offer for this ATS?

hello all, I used to visit to CTS portion of the site, but now I am looking to get an ATS.

I found a clean 2013 really close to my house, I checked the CARFAX and it looks like it's been on the lot for sale, since the beginning of Jan. Right now I have $10,000 financed (a check) from chase, and the rest will be paid cash.

What would you think is a good price to offer?

Since the 2015 is going to have a minor facelift, does that affect the price as well?

Update on improving ride quality by losing my run flats.

When I made the switch from the stock wheels and 18 inch run flat tires.. To up sized 235/40/18 Kumho all season tires.. And Helo wheels.. I lost about 4 lbs per wheel compared to the stockers..

But with those "reported" smooth riding tires, and those lighter wheels.. They barely made any difference in ride quality..

What made the biggest change in improving my cars smoothness was "as someone else said" putting some miles on it.. I've got close to 900 miles on the car now.. And it rides much, much, much better than when it was brand new..

Also.. When I first put my new wheels on.. I tried to set my tire pressures at 32 psi.. And my low tire pressure warning light would come on.. I had to have at least 35 psi "when cold" to keep the light off.. I was later sent a diagnostic report from On Star.. And they mentioned about seeing the low tire pressure warnings.. And stated that I should inflate my tires to the manufactures recommended pressures of 37 psi front and 40 psi on the rears :holycrap: ..

exhaust modifications

Hello ats community!
I want to make my exhaust louder. I've already taken off the muffler and resonator. I'm assuming the next step would be to take the cat off. I've heard the sound of catless exhaust and it is a bit too high pitched for me in general. I'm thinking if I take the cat off then get a couple of flow master or magna flow mufflers, it will make the exhaust sound loud and low.

Let me know what you think. If there are other options that will give me results, I may be open to them.
Thanks.

The phantom vibration issue

So last year I had a vibration issue that turned out to be some bent wheels. Long story short I got them straightened, balanced and still was feeling a slight pulse on my steering wheel at 55-60mph. Fast forward to now after buying new wheels and tires I STILL feel a light pulsing on the freeway, especially cornering. The tires balanced out with .004 measurement of road force so I am clear to rule those out being the cause. My ATS has 13,000 miles and hasn't had any type of damage anywhere to suspension or other parts. My question is before I go back to the dealer is what possibly could be going on here? Does anyone else feel a little vibration in their steering wheel while on a smooth road at highway speeds? (sometimes large heavier vibrations) I have had this concern since day 1 and even drove a brand new ATS and still felt some shaking in the steering wheel. I would be shocked to find out this is "normal" for the ATS platform. Any suggestions would help me a lot!

CUE voice prompts on ATS (all users please step in)

$

I know there is a CUE section, but I need this topic to refer specifically to ATS owners. I am wondering if you can do a check for me. I have been working with my dealer, the CUE infotainment line folks, and an engineer from CUE trying to figure out the ATS issue where the voice prompts will reset to "LONG" after the car has been shut off for awhile (30 minutes according to the dealer) and they were previously set to "SHORT". The dealership has come back and said that the CUE engineer has told them that's just how it works. So I would like to get as much info from as many ATS owners as I can for this issue. So, those that have CUE, do your voice prompts stay on SHORT or do they revert back to LONG? If you haven't really bothered to check would you be so kind as to make the setting "SHORT" and check them again the next time you get in your vehicle (provided it's been longer than 30 minutes) If it has changed the actual voice commands setting will be reset with the "checkmark" showing that LONG is selected. This applies to both 2013 and 2014 model year vehicles of all trim levels. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

In case anyone (newer owners) are unfamiliar with how to change the settings, it's:
HOME > SETTINGS > VOICE > PROMPT LENGTH [LONG/SHORT]

** I am looking for all users to just say "mine does not revert back or, mine does". Even if yours do not change back please just post saying they do not change back**

Tire Education.... Air pressure, runflat, ect....

Hello All,
I have to way in on some of the tire comments here and help if I can.

Air Pressure- Should be set cold at door placard specs. Here are some tips-
pressure changes about 1 lb for 10 degrees of change. Example- if I set mine
early AM at 32ft - 35 rr with an ambient temp 50, in the afternoon at 80 ambient
they will grow to 35 - 38 by themselves. This is without driving. If you drive for a
few miles at highway speeds the pressure will grow a few more lbs, maybe 3.
So that could be close to 38ft 41rr. This will keep the TPMS tale tale from
illuminating in the morning.

Runflat - first, more and more Runflat tires are in our future. Think of the evolution
Of Bias ply to Radial. Cars are being mandated to achieve more fuel economy and a
trend is shifting to smaller vehicles. Fact - runflat tires have been heavier and stiffer in the past but since around 2010 technologies have been discovered and that
issue is improving.
Our ATS sedans have
been tuned on the Nurburgring by some extremely talented engineers. The stiffer
sidewalls of run flats may add to the effective spring rate. The slightly heavier tire
will require a different dampening rate. If you remove the OEM designed tire you
are changing the suspension as well as the tire.
Runflat tires will not blowout. If a rapid loss of air occurs the TPMS tale tale will
illuminate with a warning and the tire should keep the car under control. This is
very different from traditional tires. You should not be stuck at the side of a road
waiting on help that could be longer to arrive than you wish.

Touring vs Performance tires - performance tires ride firmer, require less steering
input, handle and corner better. To do this they may sacrifice ride and wear life.
touring tires ride smoother, last longer and may be quieter but usually sacrifices
some grip and steering crispness.

I am a UHP Education Specialist for Bridgestone Americas. I am not an engineer but
attempt to clear tire rumors where I can.

2013 Cadillac ATS Premium AWD 3.6L lost me as a GM customer

After 28891 miles I've finally decided that I need to trade this thing in before the warranty runs out. Most likely will be getting a Lexus IS 350 F.

Service engine soon light came out, started doing very rough idle - put my phone on the arm rest and it literally shook off. Normally the rough idle is just enough to notice that a car shouldn't be doing it.

Traction control turned off.

Service Stabilitrak.

Rattle noise under the car that can be heard especially when turning in a parking garage, very faint otherwise.

When shifting from 2nd to 1st gear it felt like I was getting rear ended it was so clunky. And this was driving in downtown Chicago so I would go 200 feet, have the car make a really shitty jerking motion coming to a stop, and then the rough idle.

CUE is still a piece of shit, when other people watch me use it to put in an address they laugh at how slow it is, it doesn't remember the short voice setting inputting an address, it randomly switches back to voice prompts on while giving directions, the HUD resets its position.

Near the garage door buttons there is a rattle - I took the entire thing apart, put some tape on it, tightened screws and no luck fixing it.

The chair is squeaky (I've never complained about this before, but just saw a post about it on here and I guess other people don't expect their chair to be squeaky either)

Biggest pile of $50,000 shit ever.

With the exception of fixing the service engine soon light, service stabilitrak, and traction control off service departments say they can't reproduce the problems or that it's normal. I've had those 3 problems before and the service department fixed them, but they come back.

And no Cadillac customer care I don't want you to look into it for me, you've done it before and it doesn't help. My hope is that someone reads this before buying one of these shit boxes and it changes their mind.

13 ATS Woes

Just venting so I won't be bashing on the automaker but i will just a little bit. First and foremost i love my 13 ATS. Beautiful car, color, wheels all in all everything about it is awesome. But this vehicle has it's problems. I've been without my car going on two weeks. Two Weeks!!! But I really i can't do much it's got to get fixed. Yes the dealer lent me one and the service advisor has been in contact with me about the situation but really two weeks!!!! Not good!!!! I know that all vehicles have issues but this is unacceptable.

But what i am going to say i really don't want too but i feel it's necessary for every consumer out there to know that Cadillac needs work!! Maybe it's a work in progress but things like this for me really makes me think twice! The worst part about it is that this is my first Cadillac!!

Okay done!!!! Happy car shopping!!!

Turbo differences?

I'm wondering what the differences really are between the stock LTG turbo and stock LNF turbo. How different are they? There are a good number of aftermarket options for the LNF. Completely new turbos, BOV's, etc. What size is our turbo flange? Also what model or type is our stock turbo? I read that it was made by Eaton/Mitsubishi. Any info would be appreciated, I just want a better understanding of everything....

Help on nav wiring 2014 ats

$

Ok so I did this to the last car I had...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_wNsgs6kpw

I am going to do it again...

Here is what I need to know,

On the back of the Nav, I need to know what wires are:
The switch which goes to the reverse (when you put the car in reverse, the Nav knows)
The backup camera input
The auxillary audio input (if not this can be accessed via center console)

I just need a harness layout for the wires really.

My next thing is I kinda wanna do it myself, but I need to run a ignition power cable to the trunk, along with this I need to run 2 18awg cables for power (kill switch), 2 24 awg cables for the power switch (I am assuming the ignition wire should be local to the steering wheel which is where I would put a valet switch so I wouldn't need a second pair of cables for that). Then 1 18awg cable for the ignition wire, a video cable (2 cables in 1) and an audio cable (3 cables in 1). Anybody have any tutorials on this? Either way if not this isn't too big of a deal I am probably going to take it to a high end shop to get it done, but I do need that harness layout.

Also does anybody know if that switch when the car is in reverse, if it is just a short? Thanks!

Voice Recognition Dead

Anyone ever have there VR completely fail? I do not get any audio prompts from the system. The dic will flash when pressing the button on the wheel. When using the touch screen voice icon, the help menu will pop up. There is never any audio response from the VR. All other system component are functioning except VR. I can make calls so I know the microphones are working.

I've tried every reset method I could find (multiple times) nothing fixes or resets the VR.

Removed all phones, cleared all data, restored radio settings, worked with CUE hotline.

I have a 14 ATS 2.0T Perf model. Any thoughts or similar experiences?
